I have noticed that the title of this article is rather vague and debatable. However, I come from a family with very strong moral values and a sense of self respect. I was always told that your word means everything. Honesty is a word that I believe is severely taken for granted!
If the contractors, subcontractors and sponsors out there that are reading these blog posts listen to one thing only it is this… A customer will tell you that they want a quality job but they really want is to believe in you and the work that you do. Don’t take away the quality. That is your works reputation. But, think about it. If I told you I was going to remodel your living room with all new flooring, a fireplace and a brand new custom built entertainment center in simply one week. Then DO IT! Don’t take a large down payment from someone who works hard for their money, beat around the bush and milk the clock and keep telling them that they are being delayed by bogus excuses! Be Honest with them! Tell them, “Hey, I got caught up in something else, I’m having problems finding a particular type of material, I’m having trouble with help, etc.” Be HONEST! Let’s face it, they would rather you tell them up front that the job will take 2 weeks and it actually take that long verses one week, have them plan for a big show party for it and it not get done by then.
For crying out loud people, what happened to our society and more important our trade? I think that we need to get back to the values and integrity that our country was built on and it starts with your Honest word. For a while now, since the housing market was booming, contractors, subcontractors and even the suppliers have begun developing a reputation for being more of a salesman with drunken or drugged up workers than someone you can count on.
If you want a job in this collapsed construction market today, get your integrity back, be honest and reclaim the name that made your business what it once was…. A good one.
We are hiring salespeople for selling advertising listing for contractors, subcontractors and sponsors to our website. What we offer to our salespeople is…
